Netflix to end support for older Roku players in Dec

Streaming giant Netflix is planning to end its support for some of Roku’s oldest players after December 1, including the Roku HD, HD-XR, SD, XD and XDS as well as the NetGear-branded XD and XDS.

How can you tell if you are on the older Roku Netflix Channel? If your Netflix app does not support autoplay next, you are using a Roku that will be losing access to Netflix.

Nokia partners with Wipro to develop 5G ecosystem in India

Finnish telecommunications equipment maker Nokia on Tuesday announced partnering with IT major Wipro to jointly develop 5G use cases at its Bengaluru R&D centre in order to help operators maximise their investments in the fifth generation cellular technology.

The collaboration will explore technical and operational feasibility of use cases, such as augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR)-based immersive learning experience, as well as drone-based applications for agriculture, public safety energy and utilities, using real-time network analytics, lifecycle operation management and edge computing.

Apple Responds to Criticism for Sending Some China Browsing Data to Tencent

Apple came under fire on Monday for sending web browsing data, including IP addresses, to China’s Tencent Holdings, the latest criticism of how the company operates in the world’s most populous nation.

Apple sends data to Tencent as part of an iPhone and iPad security feature that warns users if a website is malicious or unsafe before they load it. The US company checks addresses against an existing list of sites known to be problematic. That list is maintained by Tencent for users in mainland China and by Google for other regions, including in the US.
